EKM's summer projects

EKM has finished shooting its first short film, and it was a great experience! We worked with two wonderful businesses to shoot on location at Captain Seas in Wallingford and Last Call Liquors in Southington. These family-owned establishments were perfect for our shoots and the families that owned them were very welcoming and fun to work with.

Working in New Haven and Hartford counties has been a blast, and we look forward on July 24th to meet the film commission in Farmington Valley at the Farmington Valley Film Fete and Mixer. The mixer starts at 7:30 at 41 Bridge Street in a cute little town called Collinsville. After cruising through Farmington Valley for other projects, we can't wait to be a part of the Valley. It's open to everyone for a small donation to the film community, so we hope to see you there.

Meanwhile, we're busy setting up some appearances at Faebles Comics in Southington with artist Greg Mayer, and we're working on post-production of "Cruise Night". Stay tuned for updates!
UPDATE SUMMER 2010

Well, it's been a while since we've blogged! SORRY! We've been extremely busy. In addition to getting "The Clearing" out on DVD and to film festivals, we have completed "The Mountain Top", our documentary on the Civil Rights Movement (sometimes I wonder, did that really happen?) and we've been working on some exciting new projects.

Our short film "Cruise Night" will be shot this weekend, if the weather lets us, and our new feature "Hostage" is in the works - check out the trailer on the Hostage web site!

As you may have noticed on our site, our director, Martin Abankwa, is offering his services as a freelance artist creating commercials for local businesses. Although this is not related to EKM, you can read about it on our site.
Stay tuned for more!
Taking a break to say HI

Hi there...just taking a break from working pre-production...I'm really psyched about our upcoming projects...
We have some return cast and crew members, but are also working with some brand new talent that we're so excited to showcase. If you make it to our fundraiser on April 24th, you'll get to meet them! whoa!

Okay, back to work.

Film Festivals?!?!

We at EKM are holding off on placing "The Clearing" in too many film festivals. In our experience, we have found that it is best to research what film festivals are about before placing our movies in them. As producers of the civil rights documentary, "The Mountain Top", we do not see fit to place our product in any theater or festival that does not uphold our high moral standards. We realize that there are many wonderful festivals out there that we would be honored to join, but until we search out those who do not honor the same ideals we do, we are reluctant to appear in festivals.

You will be able to see us at the Phoenix film festival in Arizona this year, and we will hit the 2011 circuit as well. We'll keep you updated!
Things I am excited about for Christmas

C'mon, kitties shop, too.

Here are some things that have really excited me in the entertainment industry this holiday season -

In the category of best novel is SKIPPYJON JONES...the plush toy and totally awesome childrens' book series. What is better than a Siamese cat with an over sized head that thinks he's a Chihuahua... a sword fighting, pickle eating Chihuahua.

In the category of best film has got to be New Moon, the second Twilight movie...honestly I am the LAST person to become a swooning, pale-sickly boy loving girl, but no other film can tackle the subject of domestic violence like those in the Twilight series. "Bella, I may kill you if I kiss you" "Yo Bella, mind if I come in your window and sniff you and watch you while you sleep?" Then there's the werewolf dude, "Bella, I will never hurt you...now get the hell out of here before I rip you limb from limb" If there weren't arbitrary giant muffins in the movie, the love would make absolutely no sense at all.

In the category of best musical hitttt is every Black Eyed Peas song...they finally figured it out. Just shout out a bunch of partying words, some chants, some Jewish toasts, and say terms like 2000-and-late, and hit!!!

I'm gonna buy it all for Christmas...beginning with Skippito, Skippyjon Jones. Cause he's a kitty!

(By the Ren part of Martin)
Lately, my cat stopped using her litter box...so I guess I've officially started!
Welcome to the EKM web site! Hope you enjoy it, and clean up when you're done!
