| "The Clearing" Martin Abankwa wrote “The Clearing” with Ren Knopf as a tribute to the stylized indie horror
that enjoyed popularity in the late 1970s and early 80s. It is his answer to
the “shock horror” in theaters today. With “The Clearing”, Abankwa brings back
the style of storytelling, using dramatic irony and suspense to create a
nostalgic scary movie." The Clearing" was filmed locally in Southington, Hamden and Guilford Connecticut. It was rated by a local board of community members that included parents and business owners, and was determined suitable for viewers 13 and older. Parental guidance is suggested for viewers under 13 years old.
